Looking for things to do on your next travel? Use these fun road trip games for kids & free prints to make your car rides easier!
This set of printable road trip games for kids is part of another addition to my printable workbooks for preschoolers.
It is perfect for entertaining children during car rides.
You can download the above 6 pages of the games and activities set for free. (Look for a yellow sign up button below.)
The pack is full of colorful and interesting images to keep your child’s attention.
What You’ll Love
- Colorful images to capture their attention
- Brain activity
- Engage kids with their real surroundings
- Games that encourage dialogue between family members
- Learning included (counting, coloring, matching and tracing, thinking and observing)
On the flip side, I hate handing over the phone to my son.
Yay for no screen time!
What’s Included Inside
You can grab the complete set by clicking the buy button below.
Scavenger hunt games
These games will help your child observe his surroundings.
Your child will observe the different passing vehicles, trees, nature colors, etc as part of the game.
I spy sheets
These will help children engage their minds. They will require to count and answer how many objects they found from the picture shown. This will help them revise their counting too.
The objects they have to count are easy and small numbers (within 1 and 10) that they can find without much help if they know basic 1 – 10 counting.
My son can count but he can not write down all answers on his own so I will assist him where he needs help.
Animal Dress Up Play
There are 8 animal heads.
You can cut out the head shapes or leave them as the base to place the props on.
They come with 11 props (glasses, hats, dresses).
Your kids can change the dresses or get the animals ready for a special day.
You can also role-play a party prep scene with your kids.
For example, two characters want the same dress and the third one (you or your child) helps the animals solve the problem.
Or a couple of friends go to a store to buy clothes, etc…
Miscellaneous car games for kids
- License plate search
- Car race drawing puzzle
- Match and color game
- Very bright-colored solar system question-answer game. (One of my favorites!)
- Super easy three-letter word search game
You kids can play most games independently but the solar system or the word search may need adult assistance.
I recommend you play the solar system game when traveling at night. So kids’ imagination can actually go farther and as they answer each question, you can ask them to look at the sky and see if they can find one of the images shown in the printout in the sky too.
It really helps if I show my son how to do an activity once, I would guide him once through each and every step.
We enjoy doing printables together like this.
Then when I have taken the time to make my expectations clear, he picks up faster and is able to do things on his own better next time.
Materials You’ll Require
- Printer for printing out these sheets
- Any colorful pens or markers your child uses
- Safety scissors for cutting out animal-dress up props (It would be better if this part is done by mama while preparing the workbook at home)
- Optional: Dry erase marker if you laminate all the sheets for reusing them
How To Use The Games
Choose the games you like or plan to use.
Print them out on a regular paper or a card stock.
If you laminate all the sheets, they can be reused and the props can survive little hands longer.
All games are no prep and ready for use once you download and get a printout, except the dress up games at the end.
You can separate the pages with props and bind together the rest of the pages to form a workbook for handy use.
You can store the dress-up props by:
- clipping a packet with your workbook or
- using a pocket (if the printables are in a binder) so everything stays together
You may find too many animals.
My son loves animals so I put jungle clipart to gain his attention.
(I did mix in other activities too!)
